 Although there are many heartworm and intestinal parasite preventatives available, due to the newly described resistance with parasites, Town & Country Veterinary Clinic has compiled recommendations for preventing heartworm & intestinal parasites with your pet.

Canine Heartworm & Intestinal Parasite Preventatives

Recommended protocol for active, inside/outside dogs:

For inside dogs that briefly walk outside around the neighborhood (aren’t exposed to ticks), we recommend:

Feline Heartworm & Intestinal Parasite Preventatives

For all outside cats, we recommend:

  • Combination Heartworm/Intestinal Parasite/Flea medication: Pfizer Revolution

For inside cats, to protect against heartworm disease transmitted by indoor mosquitoes, we recommend:

  • Heartworm & Intestinal Parasite Preventative: Pfizer Revolution or Merial Heartgard
